Volvo History

Since the invention of the three point safety belt by Volvo in 1959 (the patent for which was subsequently given free to the world, saving countless millions of lives in the decades since then), the Swedish car manufacturer has been known in Australia and internationally as an innovator in vehicle safety and quality.

Manufacturing since 1927, Volvo Cars and Trucks have consistently led the field in safety system design, to the extent that their innovations have long been accepted as standard equipment on nearly all modern vehicles. The Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) was first introduced by Volvo in 1991 and the principles of this design has influenced major manufacturers worldwide.

Simply put, Volvo not only raised the bar in vehicle safety and quality, but in many ways they invented that bar. From crumple zones front and rear (1966), multi stage impact absorbing steering column (1974) to the Volvo Truck Telematic system, along with Safety and Quality as Core Statements, Volvo is perhaps singular amongst contemporary manufacturers in the respect that like the aircraft industry, Volvo aspires to a Zero Fatality goal.

Volvo Trucks

Volvo produced its first truck (the LV Series 1) in 1928 to immediate success. With its 28hp four cylinder 2.0 litre engine, the LV was perhaps just a truck, but it set the stage for unsurpassed attention to safety and quality in the years to follow. Whether you are a Volvo Truck driver or a fleet owner, with Volvo’s patented Vehicle Management and Fleet Management systems (implemented via their real time, back to base diagnostic Telematic technology), is a safe choice for operators.

The list of Driver Support Systems in the LH (Long Haul) series is formidable. They include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Emergency Brake
  • Lane Keeping Support
  • Driver Alert Support
  • Lane Changing Support
  • Electronic Stability Program

All these technological innovations maximise productivity, fuel efficiency and driver support. Yarra Finance see Volvo Trucks as head and shoulders above the competition. Investment in a Volvo Truck (or other vehicle) represents outstanding value as an asset in any capacity and as a consequence, we offer finance specific to this product.
